COVID19 Health & Safety Update – PCAP2022 Palm Springs

January 19th, 2022; Podcast-A-Palooza COVID-19 Health & Safety

Podcast-A-Palooza® (PCAP) recognizes COVID-19 has had broad and lasting effects on how all in-person events can safely be conducted. PCAP understands management of future events will be critical to ensure the safety of all participants and staff. PCAP remains unfailingly dedicated to the sexual, physical, and mental health of our attendees.

Mask Requirement

According to the latest information published by the city of Palm Springs, masks are required indoors. Per the City of Palm Springs newest health order, facial coverings are required in indoor settings, regardless of vaccination status.

Face coverings are required for all individuals in all indoor public settings, regardless of vaccination status, beginning Dec. 15, 2021 through Jan. 15, 2022. Full information on this requirement can be found here https://www.palmspringsca.gov/home/showpublisheddocument/80988/637751844690570000

Please note that this mandate was in effect from December 15th , 2021 through to January 15th, 2022. We are anticipating an update from the city of Palm Springs shortly and will update you as necessary.

What does this mean for PCAP?

Whilst indoors (aside from your room or whilst eating and drinking) masks will be required, many of our planned activities take place outdoors and this mandate doesn’t currently impact our schedule.

Vaccination Requirement

As mandated by the City of Palm Springs (on the 5th August 2021), restaurants and bars are required to verify vaccination status or a negative COVID-19 test result administered within the last 72 hours for every guest.  An official paper or digital copy of a vaccination card or negative test result will be accepted.  In accordance with the City’s requirement, guests unable to provide the documentation will not be seated indoors.

What does this mean for PCAP?

We are still in the process of verifying if the current protocols for restaurants / bars apply to hotels. We have a number of onsite bars and restaurants including outdoor poolside dining. We do not believe this will impact our event however, should this clause impact us we will put into effect the below procedure.

Upon checking into the hotel, the staff will be required to check your vaccination status or a negative COVID19 test to determine if you are eligible to enter the premises. PCAP has previously provided FREE COVID19 testing kits (at the organizers cost) and will continue to do so for PCAP2022 . Any attendee of PCAP is welcome to use our COVID19 test kits during check in / out or at anytime during the event. Personal test kits are also available within a short walk from PCAP at CVS pharmacy / Walgreens and more.

Mega Event Guidelines

On the 13th December 2021, the City of Palm Springs put in place additional guidelines and mandates for mega events.

PCAP events are not considered mega events (and therefore these requirements do not apply to us) according to the state of California, for further information on what is deemed a mega event please read this published guide dated December 13th 2021  https://www.palmspringsca.gov/home/showpublisheddocument/80990/637751846040630000

  • Increasing the frequency and intensity of cleaning and disinfecting high-touch, high-traffic areas at every property, such as light switches, door handles, remotes, elevator buttons, thermostats, and more.
  • Requiring team members to wear personal protective equipment including masks and gloves.
